Microcredentials and the National Qualifications Framework: Bridges Across Borders

Dr. Alaa Ashmawy is an engineering professor and researcher, a licensed engineering consultant, and a global leader in higher education management. Prior to his current position he was president of Deraya University in New Minya, Dean of Engineering at the American University in Dubai, and a professor of civil engineering at the University of South Florida. He is the Past President of the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) and serves as special advisor to ABET.

Dr. Ragia Taha is NAQAAE’s Vice President for Al-Azhar Education and Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology and Toxiology at Al-Azhar University. She is a member of the Committee of Pharmacy Educational Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities and a member of the General Assembly of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and Medical Supplies. Prior to her current role, Dr. Taha served as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (Girls) at Al-Azhar University and Vice Director of the Al-Azhar Quality Assurance and Training Centre (AQATC). She managed the Training Department of NAQAAE from 2008 to 2011.
